Looking back…

All 3 volumes of CP Treasures by Ann Kullberg

I have decided to get all three copies of the CP Treasures by Ann Kullberg during their recent sale. Well, it does cost quite a bit looking at the current Malaysian currency compared to USD but this is something I must have to remind me of how far I have come in my colour pencil art journey.

About two and a half years ago, when I came across the cover of the first volume, that hand caressing the water surfaces (by  Adolfo Fernandez Rodriguez from Spain), I was in awed. At that time, I can only afford to browsed and see some snippet of the published work on social media.

After the second volume was published, I told myself that I must try my luck and submit my art in the next publishing, without having much confidence but by my ‘thick skiness’, I daringly paid the entry fee and submitted for the third volume.

And well, what do you know? I got selected and my art was published in the third volume. I could not believe it and probably pinch myself quite a few times. It was the happiest moment in my life as a colour pencil artist.

I strongly believe that there are many opportunities for everyone in everything. As long as you have a goal, aim and put in your 200%, look out for opportunities, be brave and go for it. Of course obstacles and failures do come hand in hand with successes but it should not be a deterrent. Cry, sulk, be angry all you want but the next day, pick yourself up, stand tall and face the day, come what may…

I am proud to call many of those talented artists, whose work has been published as my dear friends, their work has and still inspires me to no end, yes and that including Adolfo Fernandez.

Sharon thanks for spending the time today to chat about your art. Coloured pencils work like magic in your hands. Your website and blog are very professional, however they are not overpowering. You write in a relaxed conversational tone.
