  • Thank You, 2021

    31 December 2021

    Blog post

Well, 2021 was a continuation of 2020, I meant the Covid-19. We had another lockdown early this year because of the pandemic, (again!!), but people are better prepared this time. We were not as clueless as last year.

For me, was work as usual. A tad slow on producing new artworks after my solo exhibition last year. I guess, I am taking it easy after months of crazy rush to complete 17 new and big artworks.

As I am writing this, it is already the 30th of December, just two more days before we get to 2022.

While I was slow in producing new artworks, I was actually pretty occupied with other art related work.

Early this year, I was commissioned to do a portrait of a deity. Yup, you read right.

“Mazu” – Deity of Seafarers, Taiwan.

In April, this portrait of “Mazu” -Deity of Seaferers https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazu_(goddess) was offered by a dear friend in

  • International Guild of Realism (IGOR)

    25 October 2016

    Blog post

Six weeks after submitting my membership’s application to the International Guild of Realism (IGOR), I finally received the approval via email on the 24th October, 2016.

I truly cannot believe my luck and took me quite a while to read through the email, several times, in order for the news to sink it. IGOR is an organisation that promotes Realism art in all medium.

To be accepted as a member of IGOR,  Coloured Pencil …… You can imagine my joy.

Now, one may wonder what is so great about getting accepted as a member? When I posted the news on my Facebook page, there were some comment asking what is it all about and why is there a need to ‘belong’ to certain organisation/group.

Before I go into details on why, here is what is IGOR all about.

Our mission is to advance realism

    Blog post

Seems like a long time since my last blog and this is the first time that I am blogging from my website.
After the exhibition with Faber-Castell Malaysia in April this year, I have been cooped up at home working on paintings for the Langkawi Art Biennale ‘Exploration” 2016 (LAB 2016), which will take place from the 16th – 23rd November 2016 in Langkawi, Malaysia.

LAB 2016 will be a milestone for me and also coloured pencil art, locally, if everything goes well. This exhibition really pushes my boundaries as a colour pencil artist as I have to produce paintings at the size from 24 x 24 inches (60 x 60cm) to 36 x 36 inches (91 x 91 cm) huge. A very big feat when using solely dry medium. Tough, but it is a good try.

All the complete paintings for LAB 2016 can only be revealed during

    Looking back…

All 3 volumes of CP Treasures by Ann Kullberg

I have decided to get all three copies of the CP Treasures by Ann Kullberg during their recent sale. Well, it does cost quite a bit looking at the current Malaysian currency compared to USD but this is something I must have to remind me of how far I have come in my colour pencil art journey.

About two and a half years ago, when I came across the cover of the first volume, that hand caressing the water surfaces (by  Adolfo Fernandez Rodriguez from Spain), I was in awed. At that time, I can only afford to browsed and see some snippet of the published work on social media.

After the second volume was published, I told myself that I must try my luck and submit my art in the next publishing, without having much confidence but by my ‘thick skiness’, I

  • My achievements after one and half year

    20 August 2014

    Blog post

It has been almost one and a half years since I took up coloured pencil art seriously. It never crossed my mind that I can achieve what I had today. It may not be a big thing to many but it is a huge achievement to me.

I told myself from the beginning that I have to go all out and do my very best, not impress anyone, but for my own goal in life. I am over 40 years old. I want to achieve a goal in my life that I can be proud of. But with this medium of art work, where many people consider it a child’s play,  I asked myself how should I go about it? With that question in mind, I started surfing the internet to get answers. Lo and behold, what I saw was mind blowing, the art work by some
